Miami beach fireworks

Miami isn't shy about celebrating when it comes to the 4th of July. It is one of the most lively and colourful cities anywhere in the United States, making great use of their waterfront locations and usually exceptionally clement weather to throw a series of Independence Day parties that are the envy of many across the country.

Fireworks are the main attraction, with displays right across the city, the Miami Beach area and generally the whole of the south Florida region, while there are also beach parties, live music and cruises to add to the trange of choices. Miami also marks the occasion by lighting up the Miami Tower skyscraper in patriotic red, white and blue.

4th July fireworks

You will have no shortage of fireworks displays to choose from in the Miami area, whether you stay in the city of head down to the beach.

On the mainland, Bayfront Park and bayside Marketplace is the main venue, open all day with free admission for Big July Bash, from 4pm - 10pm. There will be live music from Timbalive, Julio Montalvo, Genesis Diaz and Latin All Stars, plus entertainment leading up to the main fireworks display at 9pm.

Down at Miami Beach there is the annual Fire on the Fourth Festival, from noon with fireworks to both the north and south; at South Beach the focus is on 10 Street and Ocean Drive around Lummus Park, while up on the north shore head for 73rd Street, just to the north of Collins.

The Miami Beach official updates are notoriously slow in coming when it comes to confirming the exact details of these events, but when they are available you'll find them on the official website here.

Given it's waterfront location, it's not surprising that one of the most popular choice for a 4th if July party in Miami is to take to the seas with one of the many Independence Day cruises that are on offer, offering a wide range of food, drink and live entertainment, with an unrivalled view of the fireworks.

There is also the Key Biscayne 4th July Parade and Fireworks, starting at 11am, this parade has it all, from jets flying overhead, marching bands and patriotic floats. Then there's a picnic and fireworks in the evening at the Village Green.
